The advice provided to new drivers from those who have passed their driving test is usually the same: It's important to feel comfortable and relaxed with your driving instructor when you're learning.

I am a registered, Approved Driving Instructor who's been teaching locally for 26 years.

    I had to learn to drive in just over a month for a job move and undertook lessons with Jeff having been recommended by friends who adamantly swore by him that he’s a solid teacher. As it turns out, all my lessons were really good and Jeff did a great job. He’s encouraging, patient, and most importantly, makes you feel comfortable when you're learning something new. I referred a few mates to him who've all been pleased too. It’s been great to have been taught by someone who has been in the role for years, and knows the ins-and-outs like the back of his hand. I write this just 1.5 years after passing my test with 30,000 miles behind me and what I've been taught has worked throughout perfectly. Cheers mate!

Jeffs approach was very organized and installed confidence at all times, he explained everything very clearly and calmly which really helped when getting started.     Jeff is a great driving instructor and helped me pass my test first time with very few minors at the age of 31! I did initially take some lessons when I was 17 with AA however I was put off driving by my instructor so didn’t take any lessons until I was 30, however Jeff was different, he was much more approachable, patient, easy to get on with and also a laugh too which definitely helped put my fear of driving at ease and gave me more confidence with each lesson I had with him. He also went out of his way to pick me up from Hounslow after I moved out of Teddington as he knew I was getting close to test standard which I appreciated greatly.     Jeff is a instructor who teaches you from start to finish. He gives you the skills to build confidence on the road and trust in your own decisions. He has a unique style in that he connects well his drivers but still provides a high level of value towards your learning. I had a great time learning with Jeff. In my view, if you want to learn to drive then do it with Jeff. He will challenge you but you will feel like your constantly supported which I think is key to getting road smart.

LEARNING TO DRIVE DURING DIFFERENT SEASONS

Winter conditions tend to be trickier to drive in, but learning with an instructor during this time of the year is probably the best time to learn.

I will work in all but the most severe weather conditions as it's good practice for my students. However if there's an unfavourable weather report and drivers are advised to stay off the roads, that would include us also!

Overall, you'll feel better that you've handled the trickier conditions with my support, preparing you well for next year’s great British washout!

Learning during the Summer is the most popular season to learn, this is driven by the preferential conditions (most of the time...) with longer evenings, better visibility and weather conditions.

Everybody loves going for a drive on a hot Summer's day with the windows rolled down.

However, sitting in a car on a really warm day is not always the most comfortable, even with the air conditioning on!
